Togetherness
I’m alone when I wash
and when I sleep
and now, on my bed.
They call it peace
tranquility
just a new word
for loneliness.
But
there’s a hug
in my jumper
dozens of people
knitted it
with their prayers
and their plans
and their tears.
Their plans are my fingers
their prayers are my stomach
their souls
drive me onwards
when I’ve lost
my own drive.
